FOODS | Animal Style Fries

When I visited California last year, I was adamant about eating at one place, and that was In-N-Out.
Indiana doesn't have one, actually, California is the only place that does. Being an internet user for years, I had seen so many photos of the luscious burgers and delicious fries. Especially Animal style.
My first (and only) In-N-Out experience was at 1:30 am, in an outskirt of LA. It was delicious, fulfilling and surprisingly cheap.

Since it's been about 6 months since, I decided to recreate the deliciousness!
You'll need:

1) Thousand Island dressing
2) Small onion
3) Vegetable oil
4) American cheese slices
5) French fries

The animal style secret sauce is said to be thousand island dressing, which I already own, but the recipe for thousand island dressing is:

1/2 cup mayonnaise
1/2 cup ketchup
2 tablespoons dill pickles, finely chopped
1 teaspoon yellow mustard
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground pepper
1/2 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
1) While your fries are frying, baking, what have you, chop your onion into small pieces. I used a white onion, 1/4 of an onion because I'm one person, but if this is for more that one person, the whole onion is fine!

2) In a skillet, put about a tablespoon of vegetable oil in it, and saute your onions in it.

3) Add your fries to a bowl. I used crinkle cut, but you can use waffle fries, shoe string, crispy, really whatever kind you prefer!

4) Then add two slices of American cheese to the fries. The residual heat from the fries should melt the cheese, but if it doesn't, you can pop it in the microwave for 30-45 second to help it.

5) Put on your Thousand Island dressing...

6) ...and then layer on your onions!

And, you're done!

I am obviously not the creator of this recipe, but it's a great one to try out if you're looking to kick up your fries, if you're 3000+ miles away from In-N-Out.
