I own nothing with any hint of glitz. I'm not a glitzy person? I mean, I like sequins and glitter as much as any feminine person, but I don't like them on me. So, maybe the title is misleading. But hey, New Years Eve doesn't have to be done with all that glitz, and a toned down and more glam look can be perfect for NYE. 
I bought this...thing, from Forever 21 months ago. I don't know what it is. The tag called it a cardigan, but it's too drapey and is no way a sweater, so I'm at a loss as to what it is. It's like a structure-less trench coat. It's cute, nonetheless, and I thought it was perfect for adding to my new years outfit. Just a simple white and black theme to celebrate the end of the year, with a little bit of glitz and glamour with the boots.

I'm bringing in the new year with a cold, which pretty much epitomizes 2015 for me.

It's finally cold here. Emphasis on finally, because we've been battling early fall temperatures since the beginning of December as good as that sounds, when all the trees have already lost their leaves and the sky is eternally grey, you just want the weather to match the scene.

When it's cold, a coat is the natural selection for outerwear. And, though coats are the most integral part of winter weather apparel, you can sometimes swap out your coat with something a little more daring: a poncho.

Ponchos aren't everyone's favorite winter trend, but I like them, especially this dramatic, fur trimmed, "I'm-a-Russian-Czarina" poncho from Target. It's incredibly warm, too, so it's a great addition to my winter wardrobe, now that it is actually winter.  I wore it atop a sleeved lace dress, to add a little warmth and a more cold weather theme to my outfit. It's not too cold outside, so the poncho and high socks keep me warm. You can make any dress a winter friendly dress with a few changes, like adding an additional slip under, and adding layers, like I did here.

That aside, I'm looking forward to a lot of good food and family time! And, because it isn't too cold out, I can get away with lighter layers. I threw on a lightweight sweater over a lace hemmed tank and jeans, with a scarf draped and studded boots. Not the usual winter wonderland, Christmassy outfit, but I'll take it!Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays, everyone! Stay safe and warm!

Doesn't the light look so buttery smooth? Ugh, I'm so in love. I recently picked up some studio lighting off of Amazon and man, do they make a difference. I'm glad I picked some up. because as the weather gets crappier and crappier, these are going to be perfect for taking photos indoors with minimal light.

On to the outfit, this coat is super lightweight, which is great because it's like, 60 outside, and that's the opposite of the kind of weather I want and need right now. So, this fall coat was perfect today! Besides the coat, it was a pretty basic outfit: long sleeve striped tee, skirt, high socks and boots. The stripes act as a neutral and help the coat stand out, while the black everywhere else just accentuates the red.
