Tony and I celebrated 5 years together on the 9th, which is not a milestone we take lightly. We haven't done much in the past besides go out for dinner or take the day off for work, but this year we decided to work the actual day and take the weekend off to take a day trip up to our cooler, neighbor city, Chicago.

A 2.5 hour drive and a detour later, we found ourselves in the thick of the Windy City. I had never been to Chicago so we took the pilgrimage northeast to see some sights and be touristy. I've never been among so many towering buildings before and it was such a wonderful feeling to be safe among the congestion of architecture. I'm a city girl through and through--a high rise with a doorman is my dream--so being in an actual big city and not the wannabe that Indy is, felt so homey.

We saw Cloud Gate and walked Millennium Park, where these photos were taken, as well as taking a stroll down State Street and peering into some of the shops. We didn't do much, honestly, besides hold hands and take in the big city together, so I'm the worst person to ask for recommendations to where to go. I meant to take more photos of just the general vibe, but honestly, I was just so focused on not freezing and navigating a foreign-to-me city that the camera was not a priority.

The reasoning behind this outfit was that I wanted to wear these newly received over-the-knee boots that did not stay over the knee throughout the day. I wanted to play with the brown by pairing it with mustard and plaid, so I did that and added some black for balance and as a neutral. My tights got a run somehow between walking out of a parking garage and walking to the park, so enjoy, as it was unintentional and too damn cold to go without.

That's all for now--my pillow and blanket are calling my name. Today has been long and eventful and I wouldn't change it for the world.
