OUTFIT | Plaid and Big Scarves

Sunday, February 22, 2015

I have an obvious obsession with large, thick scarves. I love the volume, the warmth and the way it turns any outfit into a casual one.

This is the warmest day of the week, supposedly, and I decided to take advantage of it by venturing out in the snow. We got a few inches on top of the piles we already had, so it looks almost ethereal and untouched. Of course, until I traipsed through it.
Am I the only one who feels and when walking in undisturbed snow? I feel like I'm ruining beauty and a teeny bit of guilt. I complain about how snow feels (way too cold) and how it impacts driving (turns everyone into failing driver's ed students), but I can't deny it's beauty.

Because it isn't in the frigid negatives, I dressed a bit warmer, and by warmer, I mean normal winter attire. It's such a drag when normal winter attire isn't warm enough for the weather, so it's relieving to be able to wear tights again. I bought this faux leather and plaid jacket combo from Meijer a week or so ago. If you don't live in the US Midwest, you may not be familiar with Meijer. Meijer is a Midwest chain of grocery stores, much like Wal Mart or Target. In the past, their clothing selection left a lot to be desired, but in the recent seasons, it's been pretty on point.  I was pleasantly surprised when I spotted this jacket on a clearance rack for a lowly $12. That's  a bit steep for a thrifter like me, but I  went for it, and so far it's been a dream! I decided to go for a leather on leather look, pairing my faux leather skirt with the jacket, and adding a clashing gingham dress as a top underneath.
I missed you, normal winter attire, please stay.

T-Minus 3 days until my birthday!
