I've been blogging for over 7 years with Katie Like Me and it's been the most fun, most rewarding hobby I have ever had. It's been a time full of ups--like being invited to fashion events and being recognized for my style--and downs, like when Google removed all my photos on accident and I had hundreds of broken images on my blog Or, when my Instagram was hacked. But, times are changing and so am I. So are all of us.


I'm no longer going to update this blog.


For a long while, I have been uninspired by my own blog and I think it's gotten to the point where it's a chore to update, and I never wanted to it to become something like that. All of us deserve more than that, and I hate wasting people's time.

But, just because Katie Like Me is ending does not mean I'm no longer blogging.



The Katie Edit is something I've toyed around with for a long time. I've had a second blog for years  and I have debated with transferring Katie Like Me's content to the second blog for archive reasons, but now I feel is the time to make my second blog my main blog.

The Katie Edit is about me. My style, my thoughts, my not-taken-by-a-thousand-dollar-camera outfits. I have a new reignited love for blogging and style and I hope you'll follow my journey.

It's been a while since I have sat down and really written without an outfit being involved, or being the focus.

Weddings are stressful, guys. I know it's not been said a million times on a million different websites, so this is brand new information for you all. At the beginning of the year, I wasn't thinking about planning a wedding myself, or even having one. We didn't have a date, a time, a venue, or an even an idea that a wedding was going to happen this year. In all honesty, I thought if we were going to get married this year, we'd be eloping in a local park, or going downtown with a witness to the courthouse. But, when we talked about it, me at the kitchen sink, and Tony on the other side of the kitchen bar, we decided that we would get married this year. In November. We decided this in June.

We made this stress ourselves, don't get me wrong. No one told us to plan a wedding in 5 months--that was all us. But, at the same time, we thrive on time constraints and on stress. Or, at least our track record says we do.

What is making this whole thing stressful is the thought that planning it is all on us. Thankfully, we found a venue that comes with a day-of coordinator (thank the gods), and our wedding is small, but dang, my whole head is in planning mode, and it's pretty insane. Could I hire extra help? Totally. Will they be of help this far into the process? Probably not...

We sent out invitations on Friday and are paying the deposit for our venue this week. I have my dress, I have my bouquet (silk flowers for the win, no allergic reactions here!), we have catering on the lock down. It's real. It's real, expensive, and scary, but it's real.

This is a budget wedding, too, so that adds extra to the situation. There are hundreds, if not thousands, of sites out there for wholesale or "cheap" wedding supplies, but cheap is pretty relative. It's like going to a restaurant with 2 dollar signs on Yelp and realizing that Yelp lied because $20 for a salad is not cheap. Just me? Am I the only one who experiences this?


So needless to say, wedding planning is an adventure I never wanted to go on, but am on it anyway!

It's the end of August, and it is Summer's last hurrah!

Stripes are some of the best and easiest prints to wear, and I love them. I also think they're the greatest for pattern mixing, too, as they act as a "neutral".

Everyone puts a striped shirt on and says "Oui" as if they're taking a picture in front of the Eiffel Tower. Yeah...I'm not French.

It's a lazy Sunday, so of course I'm donning a graphic tee and comfy skirt.

I wore this dress is a similar way around this time last year, but you have to admit, it's pretty perfect for the hot summer.

Dazey LA is a slow fashion brand that embraces slow, woman owned and ethically made clothing. It's only natural that the golden tones and female empowerment would draw me in!

It's 93, I have so much sun screen on, and a hat was incredibly necessary for my head. Summer has arrived summer is here.

No doubt you've seen sheer or fishnet anklet socks pop up on the red carpet and on the street. Celebs from SJP to Kendall Jenner has been snapped wearing chic outfits with anklets!

I'm a legwear lover--which is obvious but the amount of tights and high socks I own--but I'm happy to add some anklets courtesy of Berkshire!

Project re:made is inspired by art that makes us rethink our views. thredUP commissioned 12 artists to create artworks in response to the statement "Climate Change is Not Real", which resulted in a mix of cute, ironic, funny and tongue-in-cheek responses to climate change denial. thredUP screen-printed these works of art onto secondhand white tees and is selling them, with all net proceeds going to Cool Effect, who is fighting hard to reduce carbon pollution. In addition to the net proceeds of each T-shirt sold, thredUP will also donate $1 to Cool Effect for every public Instagram post of artwork from Project re:made using #projectremade and @thredUP up to a maximum donation of $10,000, until May 11, 2018.




As someone who is a firm believer in climate change and the need to reduce our emissions, and as someone who is working to a sustainable life and wardrobe, and I really love and appreciate this initiative by thredUP and Cool Effect.

reStitch is an online thrift store that began as an initiative of the Goodwill Industries of North Central Wisconsin that now works with Goodwill's all over the country to reduce harmful waste in landfills via clothing and reduce energy costs. They reached out and asked if I wanted to collaborate on an Instagram takeover and I just had to say yes. You can see my take over on reStich's Instagram @restitchstore !

As you all know, I'm working towards a sustainable and anti-fast fashion wardrobe and I love reStitch's mission to reduce waste, so this collaboration is right on track.

It's Sunday, I want to be comfortable.
