September has arrived, fall is a few weeks away, and I have to slap my own hands away from pulling out my sweaters.

I used to have a pleated skirt like this years ago from Forever 21 that I finally tossed after years and years of wear. It was ratty, stained, but still a favorite of mine. This one from Torrid, though ungodly expensive for what it is, fits me better and is better quality than my previous one, so I'm not complaining. Well, not too much.

The thing about these kinds of skirts is that they lend themselves to be dressy instantly, and if you know me, or have seen my blog, you know that dressy is not me. Overly dramatic and unseasonable? Yes. Dressy? No. So, I struggled creating an outfit with this skirt that didn't make me look like a Gossip Girl extra. I mean, with this vintage blouse, I still totally look like some sort of extra in some show, but with the addition of an anorak and wide brim hat, I still have that city edge I was going for. This blouse is so old--not just in age, as it is genuinely from the 60s, but in the terms that I've had it for over 2 years but have only worn it like, once. And, coincidentally with a similar pleated skirt.

Have you purchased anything for fall recently? I've caught myself scrolling endlessly through Pinterest, scoping out some autumn must haves. So, what have you been gravitating towards?
